Specials are unlicensed medicines, such as lotions, potions, creams and ointments, manufactured to meet an individual patient’s clinical need when no suitable licensed medicine is available.

For example, where a child cannot swallow a tablet, a suitable liquid formulation may be required so the medicine can be taken safely and effectively.

They differ from standard pharmacy medicines, which must be licensed before they can be supplied.

Named Patient Imports

Where a product is unavailable but there is a specific patient need, Arcadia Medical can ethically source named patient medicines from global markets and supply them safely and efficiently. All imports are handled in line with the regulatory requirements of the country of source.
